3. Teaching Plan

3.1 Curriculum

All of the schools in the Philippines use K to 12 program. K to 12 covers kindergarten and 12 years of basic education (six years of primary education, four years of junior high school, and two years of senior high school). Especially for mathematics education, the goal is to develop a mathematically empowered citizenry. For Filipino students, the goal of Mathematical Empowerment focuses on developing critical and analytical thinking skills among all Filipino students. Critical and analytical thinking encompass the following skills as well: Problem Solving, Communicating Mathematically, Reasoning and Making Mathematical Connections. The vision is to achieve the focus goal through the teaching of a solid mathematical content, the development of strong cognitive skills and the promotion of desirable cognitive values to all Filipino students no matter their background or circumstance.

3.2 Teaching Plan Related to My Major

Based on the example from my cooperating teacher, there are five urgent points for their teaching plan: Preliminaries, Lesson Development, Assessment, Summary/Action, and Purposive Assignment/Enrichment. Preliminaries contains review, focus, motivation, and activate prior knowledge. Lesson development contains presentation of concept, broadening of concept, and integration. Assessment contains drill, quiz, or else. Summary/Action means at the end of the lesson, the students must make a conclusion based on what they have learned. Purposive assignment/enrichment contains the assignment for the students. This is one of my teaching plans:
